The City of Stratford and investStratford have begun work and public consultations on the Attainable Market Housing Community Incentives Toolkit (CIT), and Attainable Market Housing Pilot Project. The project, previously announced by Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is funded through the Rural Economic Development (RED) Program to the City of Stratford and investStratford.
To address challenges in the availability and attainability of suitable and adequate housing, the City of Stratford is researching and developing an Attainable Market Housing Community Incentives Toolkit (CIT), and Attainable Market Housing Pilot Project to encourage the generation of more attainable housing.
If approved by Council, the project would encourage private sector investment into housing within the community, while also identifying projects and initiatives that may be implemented by the municipality to assist in housing availability and attainability.
The aim of the Community Incentives Toolkit (CIT) is to encourage private sector investment into housing within the community, while also identifying projects and initiatives that may be implemented by the Municipality to assist in housing availability and attainability.
The CIT will be prepared through a Five-Stage Work Program, with an anticipated completion date and adoption of the CIT in March 2023. A number of engagement sessions will be held throughout the project and members of the public are encouraged to visit the City of Stratford’s Engage Stratford platform to learn more about the in-person public consultations. City Council is expected to consider an implementation work plan and the incentives toolkit in 2023.
